CHICAGO — Josh Donaldson was ejected after hitting a home run and the White Sox clinched their first playoff berth in 12 years after rallying late in what was an all-around strange contest.

Trailing by a run, Chicago pulled ahead in the seventh inning against Tyler Clippard and Sergio Romo to win for the third time in four tries in the series. José Abreu’s two-out infield single on a grounder to shortstop scored Jarrod Dyson, who singled off Clippard and then narrowly avoided being doubled off first base on Nick Madrigal’s liner to right field. One pitch later, Eloy Jiménez doubled in the go-ahead…
