Twin Shadow reveals video series for Yamaha Revstar

Yamama has released its new project featuring musicians Twin Shadow and Andrew Aged titled ‘Yamama Revstar: Meet the other Half’ video series.

Twin shadow wrote, “For the past few months I’ve been collaborating on a new project with Yamaha Revstar and my friend, Andrew Aged of Inc. No World, and am finally excited to announce the “Yamaha Revstar” Meet Your Other Half’ mini series.”

“When we were still planning what the series would look like, I was thinking a lot of my very first experiences with a guitar, and what it would sound like if two guitarists had an unrehearsed, jam session in a vacuum, and that became the focal point of the project.”

“It’s really impressive when you think about it, that two people who have never played together, and essentially don’t have identical upbringings in music, can speak a common language.”

‘Yamaha Revstar: Meet Your Other Half’ is a three-part video series, that uses guitar improvisation to demonstrate the power of music and the guitar’s role as an extension of self.

The series kicks-off with Twin Shadow and Andrew Aged stepping into a white expanse, void of anything but their amps and Revstar guitars, to share in a melding of thought, creativity and music.

“I was interested in kind of approaching playing these guitars with another guitar player who I admire, and not rehearsing anything and just going into it blind in a way; the heart of it being completely spontaneous,” said Twin Shadow. “It is really impressive when you think about it, that two people who have never played together, essentially don’t have identical upbringings in music, can speak a common language.”

“I had a great time playing with George (Twin Shadow). It was very natural, and felt familiar, we’re both pretty instinctive in our approach,” said Andrew Aged. “We have different backgrounds, but we have the same tendencies…I enjoyed that kind of spontaneity.”

For over 50 years Yamaha has built a heritage of engineering excellence and guitar craftsmanship. Today, the brand and its Revstar line of electric guitars, unveiled the ‘Yamaha Revstar: Meet Your Other Half’ video series featuring musicians Twin Shadow and Andrew Aged of Inc. No World, as they share their first experiences with a guitar.

The remaining two videos give a behind-the-scenes look into the musicians’ lives, following Twin Shadow into his cabin and music studio, and along his motorcycle route in Big Bear, and explore Andrew Aged’s home and favorite record store in Los Angeles.

“We’re so excited to introduce the ‘Yamaha Revstar: Meet Your Other Half’ video series with Twin Shadow and Andrew Aged; the two have mastered their craft and are challenging the conventional ideas of music,” said Rintaro Kane, Assistant Manager for Yamaha Corporation.

“Yamaha is committed to giving the best experience to our players, helping them find the guitar that best fits them, and like Twin Shadow and Andrew Aged, challenging the status quo.”

Since it’s founding in 1887, the Yamaha Group has brought joy to people around the world through their musical instruments, audio products, music schools and other products and services related to sound and music.

That experience; however, does not make us stuck in our ways. Striving for the best experience for Yamaha players, new and old, is what keeps us moving.
