Tucker: Recent injury disputes between teams and players show how bad business is done


It’s been a rough couple of weeks for the NFL.

Not on the field. As usual, the games have been compelling, the stars like Lamar Jackson and Russell Wilson continue to shine, and the ratings are up. That’s nothing new.

Off the field, though, there have been four separate incidents involving disputes of varying levels regarding NFL teams and one of their players. There’s Cordy Glenn and the Bengals, Keleche Osemele and the Jets, Russell Okung and the Chargers, and, most notably, Trent Williams and the Redskins.

No matter what the specific details may be, a dispute over a player’s health status is never a good look for a league that’s constantly talking about how much of a priority player health and safety is as they consider adding games to the NFL calendar in the latest collective bargaining sessions.
