Solutions 4 Delivery hardware-independent POS system and omnichannel operating system for Quick Service Restaurant chains

Please introduce yourself and your startup Solutions 4 Delivery to our readers!

After completing my master’s degree in Business Administration, I noticed that the common theme in my career has been to start and lead venture growth. Whether it was my own e-commerce companies, a national security agency, or the scale-up of Westwing Home & Living, the teams and companies I have led have gone through significant growth which has been a lot of fun. In 2017, I co-founded Solutions 4 Delivery (S4D) and became the company’s CEO.

In this time, S4D expanded to 10 countries and grew to 75 employees, and became a significant player in the Quick Service Restaurants (QSR) market. With S4D, QSR chains are enabled to become a fully data-driven omnichannel company, with full control of operations and costs, actionable data, and a powerful eCommerce platform. We strive to be real partners to help our customers do better business.

How did you get the idea of Solutions 4 Delivery?

The CEO New York Pizza, Philippe Vorst, was looking for a point of sale (POS) and e-commerce solution in one platform. When he couldn’t find this in the market, he decided The CEO of New York Pizza, Philippe Vorst, was looking for a point of sale (POS) to match their e-commerce solution via the cloud. When he couldn’t find this in the market, he decided to start building it within a separate company together with partners such as Maarten Alleman (serial IT entrepreneur) and Digital Marketing expert David Beentjes. They are still part of the board of advisors.

I knew Philippe via our network and we clicked since our first meeting. He approached me with this idea, and together we developed this idea into a serious venture.

Why did you decide to start with Solutions 4 Delivery?

There was a clear need in the market for a solution that would combine POS, kitchen management, and e-commerce. We saw that and eventually turned the need into an omnichannel operation system for Quick Service Restaurants. As Philippe’s other company Euro Pizza Products sells millions of dough balls worldwide, we knew that New York Pizza wasn’t the only company looking for such a solution.

What is the vision behind Solutions 4 Delivery?

We strive to become the number one omnichannel operating system for QSR chains in Europe, providing the best experience for all users (partners, restaurants, and consumers). This connects back to our mission: Make Quick Service Restaurant chains move to omnichannel to do better business. We see the value in becoming an innovative and forward-thinking partner of QSR chains and are proud of the role we play in the industry, but we believe this is only just the beginning.

How difficult was the start and which challenges you had to overcome?

The start was challenging and super exciting. We worked on building a new POS system from scratch which proved to be a challenge, but we were able to do so with industry experts and by experiencing other systems first-hand by working in multiple QSR locations. By combining the knowledge of experts, skilled technicians, and first-hand operational experience, we were able to build a practical, efficient and future-proof POS that we were able to validate with our founding customers. And of course, this went with many hiccups but I am proud of the accomplishments we have achieved with our team and partners.

Who is your target audience?

Our target audience is mostly comprised of the headquarters of Quick Service Restaurants, as they decide on the software, marketing, branding, and digital strategies for their chains. We particularly work with the C-level and mid-management of these enterprises.

What is the USP of your startup?

We offer a hardware-independent POS system and omnichannel operating system for Quick Service Restaurant chains. This SaaS solution helps restaurants get more orders by streamlining the online ordering process and the offline experience. We are continuously developing our e-commerce, POS, and kitchen solution and connecting with hardware and other software to run an effective and efficient restaurant chain.

The restaurants’ headquarters get real-time insight and data from all restaurants, including ratings, reviews, benchmarks, NPS-scores, labor costs, and revenue and profit-per-store. Our operating system is specifically built for the Quick Service Restaurant niche, and the leading pizza chain from the Netherlands, New York Pizza was our founding partner.

And what sets us apart, is that we strive to be true partners that fully understand your business and its needs to thrive.

Can you describe your typical workday ?

Every day is different! The first thing I do when I get to work is check in on the goals that are set for each department. I like to subsequently dive into some more complex work myself, before heading into meetings and supporting my teams to deliver on their goals. I love the dynamics of working in a scale-up and having so many ambitious and skilled people surely adds up to that excitement.

Where do you see yourself and your startup Solutions 4 Delivery in five years?

Our main metric on how we measure our success is the number of orders made by consumers with our partners (the restaurant chains). In 2025 we want to be the number one software solution for Quick Service Restaurants chains, by processing an ever-increasing amount of orders and having happy partners that love working with S4D, its team, and its products.

What 3 tips would you give to founders?

The three tips I would give to founders are to set clear personal and company goals, align with and trust your team, and lead by example. Cliche, but essential.
