Trump Communications Platform Permanently Shuts Down

A senior advisor to former President Donald Trump recently announced that Trump’s blog page, which was created after his permanent ban on social media, has permanently shut down.

As Christian Headlines previously reported, Trump launched the communications platform “From The Desk of Donald J. Trump” last month as a means to post updates, comments and videos to his followers.

But Trump senior advisor Jason Miller told CNBC in an email on Wednesday that the website has shut down and “will not be returning.”

He added that the page was “just auxiliary to the broader efforts we have and are working on.”

“Hoping to have more information on the broader efforts soon, but I do not have a precise awareness of timing,” Miller said.

When asked on Twitter Wednesday if the move was a “precursor” to Trump “joining another social media platform,” Miller answered in the affirmative.

“Yes, actually, it is. Stay tuned!” he wrote.

Earlier this year, Trump was permanently banned from social media following the Jan. 6 attack at the U.S Capitol that disrupted the certification of the 2020 election.

Upon the launch of the blog page last month, Miller explained that while it was a “great resource to find his latest statements and highlights from his first term in office,” he asserted that it was not a “new social media platform.”

“We’ll have additional information coming on that front in the very near future,” he continued.

While Trump’s posts have been scrubbed from the page, users can submit contact information to receive future updates from the former president.

Despite having millions of followers on social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook, NBC News found that Trump’s blog page had little engagement, according to engagement data compiled with BuzzSumo, a social media analytics company.
