Trainer says Stephen Curry could take up to a year to be fully healed

Stephen Curry’s return seems to be imminent, but he may not be 100 percent for a while longer.

Brandon Payne, Curry’s trainer, said Thursday that the Golden State Warriors star is still working through the nerve issue stemming from his broken hand and that doctors say he could take up to a year to be fully healed. Payne did add however that he does not think there is a risk of re-injury to the hand, per Kerith Burke of NBC Sports.

The former MVP has now missed 54 games and counting with the injury. He had been targeting a Mar. 1 return but now that appears to be in doubt.

Curry will turn 32 next month, and with the 12-46 Warriors in the midst of a lost season, he may only see the floor if the team has no concerns about his long-term health.
