Tony Romo fails in bid to make Safeway Open cut

While Romo rallied in Round 1 with three birdies on his final five holes, his second nine was not as kind to him on Friday. He made three more bogeys, bring his grand total for the day to nine, with the lone bright spot on being his play on the par-5 16th, when he had a five-foot look at eagle. Unfortunately, even that was a miss, and he had to settle for birdie. Romo ended up shooting 78 in Round 2 — six over par — bringing him to four over par overall, which missed the cut by six shots.

With this tournament now in the books, Romo’s record now stands at four missed cuts in four PGA Tour appearances. But on the bright side, he didn’t finish dead last, his Thursday round was the best of his competitive career, and he did beat a handful of talented pros.
