Defeated last out as the favorite in the G2 Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes, Tiz the Law has returned to the work tab in South Florida. The 2-year-old son of Constitution breezed a half-mile at Palm Meadows in :50.40, reports drf.com.
“Everything was perfect,” trainer Barclay Tagg told drf.com. “I told [Heather Smullen, exercise rider] I didn’t want him to go fast, I just wanted him to finish strong up the stretch, and he was really full of himself the whole way. I wanted to give him a little time off before getting him going again, but we wound up missing a couple of works because of bad weather on the wrong days. So this first work came a little later than I wanted to start back, although we should have plenty of time to get him ready.”
Winner of the Grade 1 Champagne earlier this year, Tiz the Law caught a sloppy track at Churchill for the Kentucky Jockey Club. He was a bit slow at the break, struggled to find position early and finished a bit flat to be third behind Silver Prospector and Finnick the Fierce. Tiz the Law is expected to make his 3-year-old debut in the Grade 3 Holy Bull at Gulfstream on Feb. 1.
