Titleist's low-compression TruFeel golf ball combines distance, soft feel

Titleist’s Pro V1 and Pro V1x are the gold-standard in the equipment manufacturer’s golf ball portfolio. But for the golfer who wanted something at a more budget-friendly price point, Titleist’s DT TruSoft checked every box, offering a combination of distance with overall soft feel due to its low-compression core.

The new TruFeel, which replaces DT TruSoft, was created on the same platform as its predecessor. The one noticeable difference between the two balls is found in the distance department. With a sprightly, low-compression TruTouch core and TruFit aerodynamic cover design — the symmetrically optimized pattern helps the ball cut through the wind — the two-piece model offers more pop with low-spin characteristics.

“It’s actually going to be fairly similar to DT TruSoft when it comes to overall spin,” said Frederick Waddell, Titleist’s senior manager of golf ball product management. “There’s not going to be a discernible difference. The ball is faster, which is what we were trying to improve while maintaining the same spin profile.”
