Tim Allen: 'I kind of liked' how Donald Trump 'pissed people off'

Actor and comedian Tim Allen said in a new podcast that he got a kick out of the way former President Donald Trump “pissed people off.”

On Marc Maron’s “WTF” podcast Tuesday night, Mr. Allen described himself as a “fiscal conservative” who supported Mr. Trump’s 2016 win because he didn’t want the alternative, former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

“I literally don’t preach anything,” he said. “What I’ve done is just not joined into, as I call it, the ‘we culture.’ I’m not telling anybody else how to live. I don’t like that — ‘We should do this’ or, ‘We should do that.’ And once I realized that the last president pissed people off, I kind of liked that. So it was fun to just not say anything. Didn’t join in the lynching crowd.”

“I just didn’t think that Hillary should have been president,” he added. “So in the end, you go the other direction. There’s nothing personal about it. If you don’t like it, then wait ’til the next election.”

The “Last Man Standing” star, who attended Mr. Trump’s inauguration in January 2017, said he became more fiscally conservative as he came into more success. He compared “the government” to a silent partner who “took almost half of my money and never gave me anything for it” when he first started out as a comedian.

“And that was the taxes,” he said. “I’ve never liked taxes. Whoever takes the taxes and never tells me what they did with it. I’m a fiscal conservative person with money. That’s it.”

“I work pretty hard for this stuff, and I’ve accomplished a lot,” he added. “Never liked taxes. Never liked what they do with taxes and the bull—-t on both sides. It’s not their money.”
