In the seventh inning of Saturday’s dreadful 11-3 loss to the Indians, Miguel Cabrera finished his swing, then winced. The scene was a little too reminiscent of 2018, when Cabrera ruptured his left biceps tendon and missed most of the season.
For now, we are not viewing Cabrera’s injury with that degree of severity. Keep in mind Cabrera left a game in 2019 with left biceps tightness and quickly returned like it was no big deal.
Still, from his view in the dugout, manager A.J. Hinch noticed something wrong in Cabrera’s swing. He had started finishing with two hands, rather than his more natural one-handed finish. After homering on Opening Day, Cabrera was hitting only .125 in 24 at-bats.
