Teams had a shorter week due to American Thanksgiving, but the action didn’t lack on the ice, that’s for sure.
Here’s a look at three major storylines from the past week.
Brady Tkachuk vs. Brenden Lemieux
Fans are always asking for more personality for players, and they got it this week. Ottawa’s Brady Tkachuk and Los Angles’ Brendan Lemieux fight on Saturday would result in Tkachuk saying that Lemieux bit his hand while they were down on the ice, Pictures showed bite marks and blood on his hand.
Tkachuk’s post-game comments have become some of the most candid ones this season.
The Kings and Senators will not face each other again in the 2021-22 season but it certainly will be worth the wait to see if the two pick up where they left off next fall.
Joseph Woll is working towards becoming a brick wall
A tough challenge right now has to be wiping the smile off of the face of a Toronto Maple Leafs fan when it comes to Joseph Woll’s play in the crease.
The 2016 third-round draft pick is 3-0-0, with his most recent one being a 4-1 win over San Jose. He became the first goaltender to pick up wins in his first three starts since Damian Rhodes in 1991-92.
Woll’s pro career hasn’t been the easiest road with injuries and inconsistent AHL play. But in a situation where he’s been called up due to Petr Mrázek’s groin injury, he’s been lights out as the current No. 2 netminder. Woll’s strong play, when called upon, has been tremendous, and it could make for an interesting goalie situation when Mrázek returns.
Connor McDavid’s mansion is… interesting
The hockey world got a bit of a tour inside Connor McDavid’s home last season in a piece in Edify Magazine. You either loved the simplicity of the aesthetics or heavily criticized the design choices.
This past week, Architectural Digest took a trip to Edmonton to tour the home with McDavid, his girlfriend and interior designer Lauren Kyle, and their dog Lenard.
The feature takes a little deeper dive into the three-story home that has everything from a spacious living room, home theater, walk-in closet, sauna, and basketball court. The video showed more to the home that overlooks Edmonton’s river valley area. Social media even after looking at the home a bit more remains divided on it, but he probably doesn’t care. He’s Connor flipping McDavid.
