This Week in Bengals: A case for the Joe Burrow breakout game in Cleveland


CINCINNATI — Joe Burrow makes his debut on national television as an NFL player with the Thursday night game in Cleveland. All eyes will be on the rookie as the only game going.

I thought Burrow offered another great response this week when asked if there was any extra juice in playing on this stage.

“No. I think the best quarterbacks treat every game the same,” he said. “So whether we’re playing the only game on a Thursday night or we’re playing at 1 o’clock on Sunday in the rain, it doesn’t matter. That’s my mindset.”

So much was made of the Bengals’ record in primetime (and postseason, obviously) under Andy Dalton and Marvin Lewis. The stage often seemed too big and the pressure too much to handle. Although, both had their moments.
