This Gucci-Themed Suite May Be The Most Luxurious Hotel Room In London

Having garnered a slew of nominations since its release last November, House of Gucci—the biographical crime drama starring Lady Gaga—has spurred renewed interest in the glittering Italian megabrand founded in Florence a century ago.

Now, a singular collaboration between the fashion house and one of Europe’s most storied hotels offers Gucci aficionados an opportunity to indulge in its charms in unrivaled opulence.

In celebration of Gucci’s latest star turn and 2021 centennial, The Savoy has transformed one of London’s most luxurious hotel suites into an inspired homage to the venerable brand. The Royal Suite—renowned for its parade of rooms spanning the entire length of the hotel’s fifth floor, offering dazzling views of the River Thames—has been reborn as a microcosm of Gucci’s rarefied world, featuring furniture and decorative furnishings from the Gucci Décor collection. Art and antiquities from Christie’s complement the unique aesthetic, conceived to meld the brand’s inimitable ethos with the illustrious design and heritage of the London landmark.

Built to offer visiting Americans the exalted level of luxury and service to which they were accustomed back home, The Savoy—which debuted in 1889 with electricity, hydraulically-operated elevators, and limitless hot water throughout—quickly became Europe’s most enviable address, attracting countless luminaries through the ensuing decades including Charlie Chaplin, Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, and Sophia Loren, as well as scores of dignitaries and heads of state.

The relationship between the fashion and hospitality icons dates back nearly 125 years, to a little-known seminal event in the life of Gucci founder Guccio Gucci. Having left his hometown of Florence in 1898 at age 17 to seek his fortune in Europe, he landed a job at The Savoy as a luggage porter before later becoming an elevator attendant. His tenure served as a daily immersion in the kind of glamour, innovation, and sophistication that would later inform Gucci’s vision for his leather goods company upon his return to Italy.

Guests of the Royal Suite by Gucci have access to signature services—including a dedicated butler and use of the hotel’s Rolls-Royce within a three-mile radius—along with the following amenities:

  • Overnight accommodation with breakfast
  • Private return transfers from London arrival airport or station to The Savoy
  • A special Gucci x Savoy welcome, including a range of gifts and a bottle of Louis Roederer Cristal on ice upon arrival
  • A selection of contemporary Italian cocktails for an evening aperitif
  • A personalized, VIP Gucci shopping experience within the suite or at one of Gucci’s flagship London stores, with private Rolls-Royce transfer

Savoy guests and visitors alike can enjoy an array of signature hotel experiences, such as its world-famous afternoon tea in the Thames Foyer, craft cocktails in the uber-glam Beaufort Bar, and dinner at the newly opened The River Restaurant by Gordon Ramsay, the multi-Michelin-starred chef’s second eatery at the hotel.
