‘This could be an option. Why not?’: New generation of female coaches and front office personnel making their mark in NBA


Kelly Krauskopf never thought she’d be in the NBA.

Despite spending the past 19 years as the Indiana Fever’s top executive for Pacers Sports and Entertainment, Krauskopf always figured she’d spend her time in the building on the WNBA side of things. This past fall, Pacers president Kevin Pritchard approached her and asked if joining the team’s front office would be of interest. Suddenly, an opportunity that wasn’t even a pipe dream in her mind was about to become a reality.

“We say this a lot for young girls – how important it is to see it because once you see it, then you start thinking about it,” Krauskopf said. “I guess, for me, I hadn’t thought about it because I had never seen a female in a front office on the basketball side really weighing in on player decisions and managing your team. In some ways, it wasn’t a thought, because I just didn’t think it was a possibility.
