I won’t lie, I was surprised to see Chick-fil-A would be offering mac and cheese on its menu. A hearty mixture of soft noodles, blended cheeses, and milk, it’s a hard dish to mess up. Yet somehow, a lot of fast-food chains and restaurants can’t seem to master the consistency of a creamy, rich mac and cheese. Being the pasta connoisseur I am, I checked my hesitation at the door and ordered a small side of Chick-fil-A’s mac and cheese. And boy, did it not disappoint!

The chain has mastered the perfect noodle-to-cheese ratio, and my stomach has never been so happy. The side has only been a permanent menu item for about a year, and while Chick-fil-A hasn’t released its recipe yet, we can whip up this copycat recipe in the meantime. Unlike other mac and cheese recipes, this one doesn’t take much of your time or attention, which I love. Craving more Chick-fil-A recipes? Notes

For a crispy top, add extra shredded cheese and set your oven to broil on high the last 2 minutes.

Copycat Chick-fil-A Mac and Cheese Recipe

Ingredients

  1. 16-ounce box large elbow noodles
2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
1 cup Parmesan Romano cheese, shredded
    1 1/2 cups whole milk
    3 tablespoons butter
    Garlic powder
    Salt and pepper

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease a 9×13″ pan with butter.
  2. Boil water to cook noodles, then drain.
  3. Mix noodles with butter. Blend both cheeses in a medium-size bowl.
  4. Scoop a third of the noodles into the bottom of your pan. Sprinkle a cup of cheese on top of noodles. Then, sprinkle garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Repeat this step so there’s three layers of noodles, cheese, and seasonings.
  5. Carefully, pour milk over mixture. Bake for 30 minutes uncovered. Best served straight out of the oven!
