McDonald's apple pie hack

It’s officially Hot Girl Summer, and with these toasty temps, you’re gonna want some Hot Girl Sweets to keep you cool during these scorching months. Personally, I use summer as an excuse to eat ice cream every single day, so when I found this amazing TikTok hack that combines McDonald’s apple pies with a vanilla sundae, I was obviously intrigued. I’ve had McDonald’s ice cream, and I’ve had its apple pie, but until now, I was never compelled to put them together. In hindsight, I feel like it was a shame to ever eat one without the other, but luckily, this TikTok brought to my life the easiest (and cheapest!) apple pie à la mode I’ve ever had.

This McDonald’s menu hack is incredibly easy to order — all you need are a plain sundae and a warm apple pie. After ordering, I took the lid off of my sundae and my pie out of the box and placed the warm pie right inside of the sundae cup! I tried to mix it together, but I found the pie to be a little big for the small sundae cup, so I broke my pie into two and found it much easier to stir into the ice cream. I gave the pie about a minute to melt the ice cream a little before digging in. (Why does time always seem to slow down when you’re waiting for dessert or doing a plank?)

The results were legendary. Honestly, this might be one of my favorite food hacks I’ve ever tried. Next time, and there will be a next time, I plan to try this with a hot fudge sundae instead of plain, since I’m a huge chocolate-lover, but this little treat was incredible. My order was only $4, and it’s arguably the best $4 I’ve ever spent. The vanilla ice cream perfectly complemented the cinnamon and sweet apple slices in the pie, and once everything was combined, it was heavenly. Next time you are craving a cool treat but want something easy, I highly encourage you to try this apple pie à la mode.
