These Are The Cars And SUVs You Can Still Lease For Less Than $200 A Month

The auto industry’s “just in time” supply nightmare, especially with regard to the worldwide shortage of microprocessor circuits, is expected to linger longer than was originally thought. Analysts now predict the scarcity of the chips that are at the heart of every passenger vehicle will last through the 2023 calendar year.

With production lines being halted because of the lack of key components, new-vehicle sales, which had been gaining steam after being curtailed by a period of COVID-19-related shutdowns, dropped by around eight percent last month. Worse for consumers, Kelley Blue Book says the average transaction registered $42,736 in July, which was eight percent higher than a year ago, with a typical new vehicle selling for in excess of the manufacturer’s suggested retail price.

Clearly it’s a tough time to go new-vehicle shopping. One solution is to lease a new model for two or three years until the industry’s manufacturing problems settle down and prices stabilize. Though the best deals are typically offered Despite inventory shortages and high new-vehicle sales prices, the cheapest of them are leasing for less than the price of a daily trip to Starbucks.on slower selling models, manufacturers are still funding subsidized lease deals select models to both help move the metal now and to insure a stream of low-mileage used models will be returning to the market in around two- to three years.

In face we uncovered a healthy list of new cars and SUVs that are being offered for less than $200 a month with nominal cash due at signing. The most-affordable lease we could find that’s valid through the end of the month is on the full electric Nissan leaf, which is going for a mere $110 in the Northeastern part of the country, though with a fairly steep down-payment. We’re featuring both lists below, most of which apply to base models. You can sometimes even cheaper deals extended to current lessees of same-brand or competing models, with down payments discounted by $1,000 or more depending on the make and model, though we’re not documenting them here.

Be aware, however, that the best deals are restricted to lessees having top-tier credit scores; those having late payments or delinquencies on their records asked to pay more, if they’re at all eligible. What’s more, leases contain strict mileage limits, typically 10,000-12,000 per year for discounted offers. Exceed the limit and you will be charged what can amount to a stiff penalty, so be sure the contract covers your needs for daily commutes, weekend excursions, and the occasional road trip.

Also take note that automakers’ lease offers (along with other incentives including discounted financing and cash rebates) tend to vary from one part of the country to another, generally to address regional inventories and other factors, and the best deals may require dealer participation. Be sure to check with automakers’ websites (under a “special deals” or “local offers” tab) and/or area dealerships to find out what’s being offered in your area.
