The Washington Commanders have apparently become a hot landing spot.Players have privately stated or told their agents in recent weeks that they’d like to be dealt to the Commanders ahead of Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.Washington has explored acquiring a cornerback and is in the market for a wide receiver, Schefter adds.The Commanders have experienced a significant turnaround from last season, as they sit atop the NFC East standings with a 6-2 record after finishing 4-14 in 2023.Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels has injected a spark into the organization with his play. The 2024 second overall pick led the Commanders to an incredible win over the Chicago Bears in Week 8, tossing a 52-yard Hail Mary touchdown to Noah Brown in the game’s closing moments.Daniels has established himself as a rising star, throwing for 1,736 yards, seven touchdowns, and two interceptions while completing 71.8% of his pass attempts this season. He’s also rushed for 424 yards and four scores.The Commanders have seen their appeal among players grow after Josh Harris bought the franchise in July 2023. Head coach Dan Quinn has led Washington to contention in his first year at the helm after serving as the defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys from 2021-23.Washington plays the division-rival New York Giants on Sunday.
