Everybody loves NBA Draft picks. Some more than others, Sam Presti. But rookies offer up a sense of “what could be” and potential that fan bases and pundits love to pontificate about. Find a diamond in the rough and it could change the fortunes of your bad franchise. Overestimate what a player could be and it might end in amassing losses, people getting fired, and more lottery balls to screw up.
The fun with each incoming rookie class leads to a lot of debate about what these guys could be. And one of my favorite yearly traditions growing up was cracking open a brand new SLAM Magazine to see what their “most likely to” lists looked like for the new rookie classes. I thought it might be fun to do something in the spirit of those posts, and find 13 “most likely to” situations for the 2020-21 rookie class.
Feel free to hold these against me… I don’t know… 10-15 years from now? At the risk of attempting to have fun…
