The Heat aren’t a flukey surprise; they are championship ready


The Miami Heat can absolutely win the championship in 2020.

This isn’t because they’ve managed to find their way to the Eastern Conference Finals. It isn’t a slight on a very good Boston Celtics team, who hopefully get Gordon Hayward back soon. There isn’t some loophole that has been found or market inefficiency that the Heat have noticed before anybody else. The Heat are a championship level basketball team at the moment. In fact, they’ve played better in the bubble and postseason than any other team.

It feels a little like their dispatching of the Milwaukee Bucks in the second-round, almost feeling so effortless at times, has been largely dismissed as just a match-up issue for the Bucks. Milwaukee was historically dominant all season long and Giannis Antetokounmpo was about as great as it gets in the regular season. He was helping the Bucks put games away in the third quarter most nights, and they cruised to victories. Their 70-win pace…
