Netflix has dropped the official trailer for the upcoming Western action film The Harder They Fall, featuring a star-studded ensemble led by Idris Elba, Jonathan Majors, Regina King, and LaKeith Stanfield. The film is scheduled to have a limited theatrical release on October 22 and will be making its Netflix debut on Wednesday, November 3.
The Harder They Fall trailer, which you can check out below along with the new key art, continues to tease the rivalry between Elba’s Rufus Buck, and Majors’ Nat Love as they go head to head together with their own gangs. It also gives us a preview of the film’s many action-packed sequences.
The Harder They Fall is the feature-length directorial debut of singer-songwriter and music producer Jeymes Samuel. The film stars Jonathan Majors (Lovecraft Country) as Nat Love, Idris Elba (The Suicide Squad) as Rufus Buck, Regina King (Watchmen) as Trudy Smith, LaKeith Stanfield (Judas and the Black Messiah) as Cherokee Bill, Zazie Beetz (Deadpool 2) as Stagecoach Mary, and Delroy Lindo (Da 5 Bloods) as Bass Reeves. It will also feature Danielle Deadwyler, Edi Gathegi, R.J. Cyler, Damon Wayans Jr., and Deon Cole.
“When outlaw Nat Love discovers that his enemy Rufus Buck is being released from prison he rounds up his gang to track Rufus down and seek revenge,” reads the synopsis. “Those riding with him in this assured, righteously new school Western include his former love Stagecoach Mary, his right and left hand men — hot-tempered Bill Pickett and fast drawing Jim Beckwourth—and a surprising adversary-turned-ally. Rufus Buck has his own fearsome crew, including “Treacherous” Trudy Smith and Cherokee Bill, and they are not a group that knows how to lose.”
The Harder They Fall is written by Samuel and Boaz Yakin. It is produced by Jay-Z, James Lassiter, and Lawrence Bender. The film will have its world premiere next week at the 2021 BFI London Film Festival.
