The Fab Five’s Antoni is Pivoting From Avocado to Acting

There comes a time in every person’s life when they put down the guacamole and venture forth to greener pastures. Antoni Porowski, Queer Eye’s resident hot boy kitchen buff, has been cast in the upcoming feature Spoiler Alert, starring Jim Parsons and directed by Michael Showalter, as Variety reported

The project marks a return to acting for the Canadian heartthrob, who moved to New York City more than 10 years ago with dreams of becoming a thespian. Porowski worked in food service while auditioning to minimal industry response before meeting Chopped host and Queer Eye alum Ted Allen. Now, the thirst trap king is getting a second chance at his first love.

Spoiler Alert is based on the bestselling memoir by Michael Ausiello, which chronicles the cancer diagnosis and swift decline of the author’s late husband, and their 14-year relationship prior to his death. (The book’s full title is Spoiler Alert: The Hero Dies: A Memoir of Love, Loss, and Other Four-Letter Words.) Principal photography recently wrapped in New York, according to Variety.

Porowski joins other cast members revealed this week, including Jeffrey Self, who memorably played the on-again, off-again flame of John Early’s character on Search Party (co-created by Showalter). Tony Award winners Bill Irwin and Nikki M. James are also among the cast.

Parsons will star as Ausiello, and his ailing partner Kit will be played by Fleabag’s Ben Aldridge, who came out as a member of the LGBTQ+ community on Instagram last year. Sally Field, noted screen gem and favorite of queer fans everywhere, will play Kit’s mother, Marilyn.

The film’s gay bonafides don’t stop there. Longtime sex advice columnist and podcaster Dan Savage is credited as a co-screenwriter, along with Ausiello and David Marshall Grant, whose credits include Smash and Looking.

While details of Porowski’s role in Spoiler Alert remain to be seen, as usual, we are expecting a sensible if curious snack.
