The Blues had lost seven in a row and scored a total of eight goals. There were four games left before the NHL trade deadline on Monday. The decision to deal the team’s unrestricted free agents, perhaps even Jaden Schwartz, seemed obvious.
But with back-to-back wins — 3-1 over Vegas on Wednesday and a 9-1 demolition of Minnesota on Friday — have the Blues altered Armstrong’s thinking?
The answer has to be yes.
After a second straight loss by Arizona, the Blues are now one point out of fourth place in the West Division with 16 games remaining in the regular season, including one game in hand on the Coyotes.
