The Canadiens’ ability to manipulate doubt leaves them 1 win shy of the Stanley Cup Final

Doubt can be a powerful weapon.

It can be just as debilitating as it is empowering, and the Canadiens are using both those extremes to great effect. They are playing in such a way that it is having a debilitating effect on the Vegas Golden Knights while at the same time using the doubt most of the hockey world has had of their own abilities to empower their own confidence in themselves.

Dominique Ducharme said it earlier in the playoffs, how he liked proving people wrong, and who doesn’t? It is a powerful motivator.

Think back to the start of this Stanley Cup semifinal series when Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin — who finished second in general manager of the year voting Wednesday — came out and stated his team was clearly the underdog in facing one of, if not the best team in the NHL, and how his team didn’t care.

But maybe that was a bit deceitful.
