Dr. Patrick Breen was the 2019 recipient of the Veterinarian of the Year award from the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH Intl.). The award, sponsored by Luitpold Pharmaceuticals, was given out at the PATH Intl. annual meeting in Denver, CO.
Dr. Breen is a 1979 graduate of Texas A&M and practiced in Crockett, Madisonville and Freeport, Texas, before opening the Animal Hospital of Georgetown (Texas) in 1989. He retired from full-time practice in 2015.
Dr. Breen has volunteered at the Ride On Center for Kids (ROCK) for more than 18 years. The nonprofit provides equine-assisted activities and therapies to children, adults, and veterans with physical, cognitive, and emotional disabilities. Dr. Breen is the current vice president of ROCK and on their board of directors. He is also a member of the Texas VMA and Texas Equine Veterinary Association.
