The Big 12 is in a state of uncertainty.

No, this isn’t 2011, although Wednesday’s developments — driven by  the bombshell that Texas and Oklahoma reportedly reached out to the SEC expressing interest in joining the league — gave the college football world a whiff of realignment recall.

It was, after all, exactly 10 years ago on Wednesday that former Texas A&M president R. Bowen Loftin uttered that exact word — “uncertainty” — while discussing the Big 12 as reports about Texas’ Longhorn Network carrying conference and high school games sparked furor across the league.
