Tennessee Titans cut Adrian Peterson, sign WR Golden Tate after 13 roster moves

The Tennessee Titans waived running back Adrian Peterson on Tuesday after completing 13 roster moves. Dontrell Hilliard has been signed to the active roster as part of Tuesday’s transactions.

Also on Tuesday, Tennessee signed wide receiver Golden Tate to the practice squad. Tate last played for the Giants in 2020 and has 695 catches for 8,278 yards and 46 touchdowns in his career.

The Titans signed Peterson to their practice squad on Nov. 2 after Derrick Henry suffered a season-ending injury. Peterson was promoted to the active roster on Nov. 5, when he rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown on 27 carries. Peterson’s score came in a 28-16 win over the Los Angeles Rams.

Peterson is fifth among the league’s all-time leading rushers with 14,902 career yards. Tennessee was the sixth team the 15-year veteran played for, following the Vikings, Saints, Cardinals, Washington and Lions.

Detroit made other moves on Thursday, including signing defensive back Buster Skrine, Hilliard and outside linebacker John Simon to the team’s active roster. Defensive back Chris Jackson and receiver Marcus Johnson were moved to injured reserve. Running back Rodney Smith, receiver Austin Mack and defensive lineman Kevin Strong were all signed to the team’s practice squad. Receiver Chris Rowland and defensive lineman Niles Scott were released from the team’s practice squad and fullback Khari Blasingame was placed on the team’s “Designated for Return from Injured Reserve”.
