Tafur: Jason Witten and Jon Gruden aim to make a prime-time Raiders statement


Jason Witten replaced Jon Gruden as the lead analyst for “Monday Night Football” in 2018. The job didn’t quite take, with some of the reviews scathing, but Witten dusted himself and returned to the game as a player, and now he’s ready for the bright lights again on Monday. 

It’s the Raiders’ first game in Las Vegas, at new-car-smell Allegiant Stadium, and Witten is geeked. If 38-year-olds can still get geeked. 

“’Monday Night’ was a good life experience for me,” Witten said after practice on Thursday. “Maybe it didn’t turn out like you would hope, but it’s a big stage. You know that throughout your entire career as a player, but being in that chair and doing that for the entire season you see it. …
