An allegedly stolen cow fell off the back of a lorry in Russia when the driver hit the accelerator at a green traffic light.

Footage shows the animal tumbling out of the vehicle as it sped around the city of Krasnoyarsk, in the central Russian region of Krasnoyarsk Krai.

The dazed cow then seemed to take a moment to find its bearing before getting back on its four legs, although it is likely he was injured as he is seen limping.

One of the men in the lorry then gets out and rescues the cow before the video ends.

The video was put on the Russian social network ‘VK’ (Vkontakte) and one viewer called Anna Nikolaeva commented: ‘Help me find that vehicle, we beg you.

‘This is our parents’ cow, stolen during the night. No one will investigate it and it is the second time it has happened!’

However, the regional administration of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs denied the allegation.

A spokesperson said: ‘Traffic cops punished the motorist for the illegal transportation of goods.

‘Information about the alleged theft was not confirmed, the man had paperwork to show that he had bought the cow.’

The Ministry of Internal Affairs spokesperson added that the driver has been fined 500 RUB (£6) for the traffic offence.

It is unclear whether the matter is being investigated further.
