Cam Newton and Steve Grogan have been linked for part of the past decade, but never more than now.
Newton, who made his Patriots debut Sunday in a 21-11 victory against the Dolphins, is the franchise’s most talented running quarterback since Grogan manned the position from 1975-90.
So naturally, Grogan has been eager to pay close attention to the way the Patriots’ offense evolved with Newton running the show.
“That was one of the things I thought about,” Grogan told The Athletic. “I was kind of interested to see – after having Tom Brady, who was such a great passer but didn’t run much at all – how they would evolve their offense to fit Cam Newton’s abilities.
