Depending on traffic, it takes a little over four hours to drive the 270-mile stretch of I-15 N from Los Angeles to Las Vegas — a trek dozens of soccer players will become accustomed to this year following Los Angeles FC’s announcement on Friday of a new hybrid affiliation with the Las Vegas Lights which was reported by The Athletic in February.

All Lights players will live in Los Angeles and train with the LAFC first team throughout the week, traveling to and from Nevada for their USL home matches. The MLS side will cover all costs of sporting operations (player and coach salaries, lodging, league dues) while the Lights will handle business operations (matchday experience, ticket and corporate sales).
