‘Stay home. We don’t need you’: Check yourselves, NBA fans, before someone gets badly hurt


You don’t want to keep calling attention to such things. But someone’s going to get hurt, and soon, and seriously, if NBA fans can’t control themselves better than they’ve shown in the past week. It might be a player. It might be the fan. It might be a security guard. Or it might be some kid who gets caught in the figurative crossfire.

The latest lunkhead behavior came during Game 4 of the Wizards-76ers series in D.C. on Monday night when an idiot came onto the floor in the third quarter. That he was immediately tackled by a security officer, arrested and banned from Capital One Arena with the Wizards announcing they’ll press charges was of little comfort. The heightened emotions of the playoffs, along with the pent-up passions of people who’ve spent much of the past year cooped up at home, seem to be turning more people into werewolves. (There is another word I’d like to use, but I’m trying to cuss less.
