Stars’ Denis Gurianov’s hard work pays off, puck luck flips in two-goal game

For most of this season, Denis Gurianov spent the second half of the third period searching for a goal. Heck, for the last six games he was just searching for a point. On Thursday, he went fishing for a hat trick.

“Every night, if you want to win consistently in our league, you need someone different to step up and make a difference in the game,” head coach Rick Bowness said. “Denis did (tonight).”

Ability has never been the question with Gurianov this season. He was the team’s leading scorer last season with 20 goals in 69 games and had a four-goal outing to propel the Stars into the second round of the playoffs. This season has been a wall, at times, for the Russian forward, who is still only 23 years old.
