SSP Chawrasia Jumps 26 Places to be 211th in World Golf Rankings


India’s Shiv Shankar Prasad Chawrasia jumped 26 places to be 211th in the world golf rankings released on Monday. (SSP Chawrasia Finishes Seventh in Thailand, Misses Out on British Open)

Chawrasia’s seventh place finish in the Thailand Golf Championship at the Amata Spring Country Club last week, might not have given him a place in the 2016’s first Major at the British Open but it helped him push up the rankings.

The 37-year-old Kolkatan is the second highest ranked Indian in the world. (Anirban Lahiri Rises To 41st in World Rankings)

Anirban Lahiri, who earlier in the day received his Asian Tour Order of Merit crown, also moved up a place to be 41st even though the 28-year-old didn’t play last week.

Rashid Khan, who missed the halfway cut in Thailand, dropped eight places to be 288th, while Chiragh Kumar gained three places to be 306th.

Former Asian Tour champion Jyoti Randhawa moved two places down to be 397th, while Rahil Gangjee slipped three places to be 422nd.

Veteran Arjun Atwal, Asian Tour champion in 2003, made a big jump of 43 spots to be 508th. Two-time Asian Tour champion Jeev Milkha Singh was 889th, a drop of three places.

Meanwhile, Jordan Spieth of the United States continues to top the rankings, followed by Australian Jason Day and Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy.

Tiger Woods, 14-time Major champion, dropped two places to be 413th.
