Spurs' Derrick White passes first concussion test after hitting head

Derrick White passes his first concussion test after hitting his head during Team USA’s exhibition game against Australia on Saturday in Melbourne.

White, who plays for the San Antonio Spurs, tripped in the fourth quarter of the game and smacked his head against the floor:

San Antonio Express News reporter Tom Osborn said White needed four stitches for a cut over his left eye. The point guard also passed his first concussion test, according to Osborn.

White had eight points in the game, which Team USA lost 98-94. The defeat was Team USA’s first in international competition since 2006.

White made the roster when Kyle Kuzma dropped out due to an ankle injury. The FIBA World Cup begins on Aug. 31 in China.
