European Tour stars took to social media to help encourage fans to stay at home and help the real heroes as the coronavirus pandemic has brought countries to a standstill.
In a video posted by the European Tour, “I am not your hero” is translated in various languages by some of the world’s top golf stars.
South Africa’s very own Louis Oosthuizen makes an appearance and states in Afrikaans, “Ek is nie jou held nie”.
Olympic gold medallist Justin Rose says, “Our heroes are the doctors and nurses.”
“Our heroes are the shop workers and food producers,” said 2016 Open Championship winner, Henrik Stenson.
“Our heroes are cleaning our streets and keeping them safe,” added 2018 Open champion, Francesco Molinari.
Five-time European Tour winner Tommy Fleetwood says, “Please help our heroes and follow the advice of the World Health Organisation and of our respective governments around the world.”
The coronavirus pandemic has seen the European Tour’s 2020 schedule halted with the last tournament played earlier this month at the Qatar Masters.
Already there have been seven tournaments on the Tour that have been either cancelled or postponed.
Two of golf’s majors, the Masters at Augusta National and the PGA Championship at Harding Park, have been postponed.
