Cape Town – South African golfer Brandon Stone was part of a six way tie for the lead after 54 holes as the Oman Open got set for a Sunday shootout at Al Mouj Golf.
“It was a very solid round that was very consistent and to be bogey-free again is sensational for me. It was good fun out there with me and Guido having a few long drive contests which I obviously won! We had some great fun out,” said Stone.
“It’s been three amazing days on a great golf course with plenty of good scoring. I’ll probably head to the gym tonight and do some recovery work and maybe have a cup of coffee and an early dinner. I might watch a movie and I’m sure the wife will have something planned for dinner and then back on it tomorrow.”
Former champion Joost Luitenwon the inaugural event in 2018 and a bogey free 67 on day three moved him to 11-under but he had plenty of company at the top of the leaderboard.
Finnish rookie Sami Valimaki carded a stunning 64, one shot better than countryman Mikko Korhonen who was also at 11 under. England’s Callum Shinkwin bogeyed the last in his 66 to drop out of the solo lead, with Stone carding a 67 and Danish teenager Rasmus Højgaard signing for a 70 to complete the leading group.
Italian Guido Migliozzi was at ten under, a shot clear of French duo Adrian Saddier and Clément Sordet, and England’s Jordan Smith. Sordet carded a 66, one shot fewer than Saddier and Smith to sit a shot ahead of Finn Kalle Samooja and two clear of Gallacher – who came home in 40 – two time Major Champion Martin Kaymer, Belgian Nicolas Colsaerts and England’s Robert Rock.
