Sport24.co.za | Daniels: SuperSport are losing a great player in Furman

SuperSport United defender Clayton Daniels has lauded Dean Furman following the departing skipper’s official exit from the club.

The 31-year-old Bafana Bafana international midfielder left Matsatsantsa ahead of the expiration of his current contract – to be with his wife in England as they welcome the birth of their child.

He had been expected to return home after the current Premier Soccer League season, but decided to leave six months earlier as the world continues to battle the coronavirus.

Having signed for SuperSport from Doncaster Rovers in 2015, Furman went on to play over 100 games for the club and more than 50 times for South Africa – captaining both sides.

Daniels told KickOff: “I’ve learnt so much about Dean Furman, as a player and person, but one thing that stands out for me about him is the mentality.

“I think he brought something to the country, having a never-say-die attitude and his professionalism. He’s a great player we are losing as SuperSport United.

“I wish him all the best in his future, wherever he goes. I’m sure he will make an impact and I’m sure we will meet again.

“I hope one day he will return to the country and give back what he has learnt throughout his career. He’s got an unmatched mentality.”
