The Los Angeles Kings and general manager Rob Blake have agreed to a three-year contract extension, a source confirmed to The Athletic.
Blake, whose current deal was set to expire on June 30, has led the team to two postseason appearances since assuming his role in 2017. A formal announcement from the team is expected in the next week or two.
The Hall of Fame defenseman was originally drafted by the franchise in 1988, and went on to win the 1997-98 Norris Trophy and a Stanley Cup title with the Avalanche in 2001.
The Kings’ 2021-22 campaign ended in the first round on Saturday in a 2-0 Game 7 loss at Edmonton.
