KANSAS CITY — The C.P.G. category is abuzz with new coffee-infused products, ranging from protein shakes to granola to confectionery to ice cream bars.

Post Holdings, Inc. is adding a new caffeinated variety to its Premier Protein protein shake lineup with the debut of Premier Protein Café Latte. Containing caffeine content equivalent to one cup of coffee, the shake contains 30 grams of protein, 160 calories, 1 gram of sugar and 24 vitamins and minerals.

“Café Latte is perfect for breakfast on the go, an afternoon snack, a post workout boost or as an ingredient in a protein-packed recipe,” Post said. “Skip the long coffee shop line and stock your pantry with the only caffeinated beverage you need.”

New from Nature’s Path Foods is Love Crunch espresso vanilla cream granola. Inspired by the Italian Affogato, the granola is a blend of rolled oats, Fair Trade coffee, Fair Trade white chocolate chunks and Fair Trade black cocoa. The granola is certified organic and Non-GMO Project verified, and each ½ cup contains 250 calories, 5 grams of protein and 13 grams of sugar.

Theo Chocolate is branching into the cups confectionery category with the launch of coffee and cream cups. The treats feature 85% dark chocolate and coffee-infused coconut oil enrobed in a 45% milk chocolate shell.

“The coffee and cream are a mocha-lover’s dream-come-true,” said Katy Radtke, product development manager at Theo Chocolate. “Because the filling is made with a blend of 85% dark chocolate and coffee-infused coconut oil, it melts immediately when it hits your tongue. There is a rush of coffee flavor upfront, followed by a sweet and creamy milk chocolate finish.”

Perry’s Ice Cream Company, Inc. is launching a line of coffee and tea flavored ice cream bars that contain as much caffeine as a cup of coffee or tea. The new Barista Bars come in three varieties: cold-brew coffee, mocha latte and chai latte.

“Exciting prominent and emerging trends, including specialty coffees, teas and traditional bakery favorites like cookies and cakes, led our new product development for 2020,” said Nichole Buryta, brand manager for Perry’s Ice Cream.”
