Sixers to play Nuggets with only 8 players: ‘Last 36 hours have been nuts’


The Philadelphia 76ers’ game against the Denver Nuggets will be played this afternoon.

The Sixers will have eight players available for the game, the league-mandated minimum. Danny Green and Paul Reed, who were listed as questionable on Friday night’s injury report because of the NBA’s health and safety protocols, have been cleared to play. They are joined by Tyrese Maxey, Dwight Howard, Tony Bradley, Isaiah Joe and Dakota Mathias. Mike Scott, who has a left knee contusion, was upgraded and will dress but is not likely to see playing time, Sixers coach Doc Rivers said.

Rivers was concerned about his players.

“I don’t think we should (play), but it’s not for me to express that,” Rivers said. “I do worry about our player health on the floor.”

Before the game, Rivers said Joel Embiid (knee stiffness) and Ben Simmons (back soreness) would be out because of injury. Seth Curry, Tobias Harris, Shake…
