Short Prices Reign In This Week’s Stronach 5; 43 Winners Get $2,746

Despite the longest shot paying $10.80, the Stronach 5 still rewarded 43 bettors each with $2,746.20 Friday evening.

Friday’s Stronach 5, featuring an industry-low 12-percent takeout, free past performances and a $100,000 guaranteed pool, started with three consecutive races from Laurel Park with the longest price being $6.60. The last two legs of the Stronach 5 – both from Gulfstream Park – produced winners that returned $10.80 (Gossip Isle) and $7.20 (All D’ Hype).

Friday’s Stronach 5 sequence

  • Leg One – Laurel 8th Race – Jenn’s the Boss $4.80
  • Leg Two  Laurel 9th Race – Steamy Hot $6.60
  • Leg Three –Laurel 10th Race – Bestatgettinbetter $4
  • Leg Four – Gulfstream 9th Race – Gossip Isle $10.80
  • Leg Five – Gulfstream 10th Race – All D’ Hype $7.20

The minimum wager on the multi-race, multi-track Stronach 5 is $1. If there are no tickets with five winners, the entire pool will be carried over to the next Friday.

For the Stronach 5, if a change in racing surface is made after the wagering closes, each selection on any ticket will be considered a winning selection. If a betting interest is scratched, that selection will be substituted with the favorite in the win pool when wagering closes.

The Maryland Jockey Club serves as host of the Stronach 5.
