Shopping for tech? We have a few suggestions in different price ranges – St. Paul Pioneer Press

Shopping for tech products can be confusing. And if these are holiday presents, you might be stressing out because you want to ensure your recipients are delighted.

Here are suggestions for tech gear in a variety of price ranges.

I’ve tried them all, and can attest to their quality.

Check back because I will be adding more tech-shopping recommendations over the next week or so.

CONVERTIBLE LAPTOP

If you need a 2-in-1 portable — the kind with a 360-degree hinge for use in different positions — Lenovo’s 14-inch Yoga C940 will do fine.

A speaker is built into the hinge for nice sound. The included stylus works with the touch screen and stows in a slot. The keyboard feels great. There’s a 15-inch C940, as well. $1,169.99 and up

BEST TABLET COMPUTER

If you want a high-quality tablet computer, Apple’s iPads have no peer. You can get into one for as little as $329.

All iPads are now compatible with Apple’s Smart Keyboard for a laptop-like setup. Throw in a Pencil stylus and you’re good to go. The iPads’ latest iOS operating system is more capable than ever.

HOME SECURITY CAMERA

Logitech’s Circle 2 is the security camera for just about anyone. You can put it anywhere — indoors or out — thanks to robust weatherproofing along with an assortment of mounting accessories for corded or cordless power.

And the camera is compatible with the Amazon, Apple and Google smart-home ecosystems. $130 to $180, depending on discounts

FANCY COMPUTER MOUSE

Now in its third generation, the premium MX Master mouse is the cure for the uncomfortable rodents typically packaged with desktop PCs and Macs.

MX Master 3 enhancements include redesigned thumb controls and a smoother, quieter scroll wheel. The first- and second-generation MX Master models are terrific if you find them on sale, though. $99.99

CHEAP STANDING DESK

It’s unhealthy to sit nonstop at your computer. Ergotron’s WorkFit-TS Compact Desk Converter, resting atop your desk, lets you alternate between standing and sitting using levers to raise and lower the work surface.

This is a compact rig, but roomy enough to accommodate a couple of computer displays. The keyboard tray detaches to use the WorkFit with your laptop. $299

FANCY STANDING DESK

VariDesk’s ProDesk Electric models are stand-and-sit desks that replace your non-adjustable desk. These motorized rigs rise and lower with the touch of a button.

They are extra-sturdy with a horizontal crossbar attached to the vertical legs. They’re available in 48- and 60-inch models, and with a range of working-surface finishes. $695 and up
