Seth Curry and Tobias Harris ‘kept us afloat’ as Sixers bounce back to force Game 7


Throughout the first quarter on Friday night in Atlanta, the Sixers found themselves in a similar position to a lot of road teams at the outset of a do-or-die elimination Game 6: They were down, playing an energized team in an arena that was desperately trying to will its team to an early knockout blow.

The Hawks, led by Trae Young’s wizardry in the pick-and-roll, had come out on fire. Young was taking what the Sixers defense was giving him, beating them with 3s, floaters and lob dunks. At one point, the Hawks led 20-8 with Tobias Harris and Ben Simmons on the bench after picking up a couple of fouls.

Doc Rivers has been coaching for two decades and has been in nearly every situation imaginable. In this case, Rivers admitted that he anticipated being down early.
