Sequel New York Announces 2020 Stud Fees And Stallion Show


Sequel Stallions New York announced its 2020 Stud Fees, led by New York’s perineal leading sire Freud who will stand for $6,500.

Freud, New York’s leading sire by earnings, turf, and AEI is the versatile full brother to Giant’s Causeway. He is New York’s leading sire of New York-breds by winners and earnings from 2012 through 2019, with lifetime progeny earnings over $63 million dollars.

“It is a very tough climate in the sales market anywhere now, but especially in the regional markets,” said owner Becky Thomas. “We want to give our breeders a chance to make some money. Therefore, we have reduced the fees for five of our top young stallions to $5,000 for 2020, giving our breeders the very best value for their breeding dollar.”

Unbridled’s Song’s Grade 1 performing millionaire, Mission Impazible is New York’s leading 2-year-old sire with progeny earnings over $7 million dollars with just four crops of racing age and 40 percent winners.

The most popular New York sire of 2017 and 2018 by number of mares bred, Laoban is a Grade 2 winner of the Jim Dandy Stakes and is New York’s only son of Uncle Mo at stud. He is the sales topping New York sire for yearlings in 2019 with his first crop 2-year-olds hitting the track in 2020.

Multiple stakes winner, Union Jackson is the only son of two-time Horse of the Year Curlin standing in New York. He’s out of Hot Dixie Chick, a Grade 1-winning half-sister to Kentucky Derby winner Always Dreaming. He was New York’s most popular 1st year sire of 2018 by number of mares bred. Standing in New York for a partnership between Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings and Sequel New York, his gorgeous first crop are yearlings of 2020.

Track record setting, multiple graded stakes winner, Destin, a full brother to Grade 1 sire Creative Cause who was nosed in the Belmont Stakes. Destin is New York’s most popular first-year sire by number of mares bred in 2019, number two overall. He is owned by a syndicate and is supported by Gainesway Farm, Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners, Twin Creeks Farm as well as Sequel New York.

Multiple stakes winner, The Lieutenant, a half-brother to undefeated, Triple Crown champion Justify is by Kentucky Derby winner Street Sense. He was second only to Diversify in the Grade 2 Suburban Handicap at Belmont Park, defeating Discreet Lover, Hoppertunity, Tapwrit, War Story, etc. His first foals arrive in 2020.

Also standing privately for Mr. Leonard Riggio’s My Meadowview LLC is a half-brother to multiple Grade 1, classic-winning Shackleford, Stephanoatsee by A.P. Indy out of Broodmare of the Year, Oatsee by Unbridled.

The stallions will be available for inspection at the annual Stallion Showcase on Jan. 19, 2020 at Sequel Stallions New York in Hudson from noon to 4 p.m.. There will be excellent food and a stallion season raffle.
