Seminole State wins NJCAA women's golf national championship

The Seminole State Raiders won the 2021 NJCAA Women’s National Championship at Plantation Bay Golf & Country Club in Ormond Beach, Florida on Thursday.

The Florida junior college won the four-day event at 46 over, 45 shots better than Daytona State College. Ranger CC (+154) was third, Tyler JC (+186) finished tied for fourth with Iowa Western.

Seminole State had three of the top five individual finishers, with Minori Nagano taking medalist honors and teammate Alex Giles finishing second, nine shots back. Minami Kudo tied for fifth. Nagano’s third-round 66 on Wednesday was the best score of the week. She finished 5 under and was the only golfer to finish under par.

Seminole State won five tournament titles during the regular season.

History was made this year at the NJCAAs when Amy Bockerstette of Paradise Valley Community College in Arizona became the first athlete with Down syndrome to compete in an NCAA championship.
