See What Daisy Ridley Could Look Like As DC’s Batgirl

As Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker inches closer to release, Daisy Ridley’s Rey will soon see her last days on the big screen. Looking ahead, some would love to see the 27-year-old actress take on another iconic role in the near future. What if she joined the DCEU as Batgirl? One artist has already imagined the actress in the Barbara Gordon’s Batsuit. Check it out:

Australian-based digital artist Mizuri makes a great case for how effortlessly Daisy Ridley could pull off the badass leather of Batgirl! She’s already proven herself as a capable fighter in the Star Wars films, along with injecting a lot of heart to the franchise as well. Are you listening, Warner Bros? She’s a great pick!

The artist was actually inspired to render Daisy Ridley into Batgirl after hearing rumors she is being considered for the role. We Got This Covered claimed Ridley is one of Warner Bros’ top choices for the role, per sources close to the studio.

Could it be? If Daisy Ridley jumps from Star Wars to this big comic book adaptation, that would be big! A Batgirl film for Warner Bros has been under development for quite some time, withJoss Whedon originally taking the helm. Shortly after Justice League, for which he oversaw reshoots and did some rewrites, didn’t fare well with audiences, the Buffy creator stepped away from his Batgirl, claiming he “didn’t have the right story.”

Batgirl is still in the works, but with Birds of Prey screenwriter Christina Hodson penning the script. At the top of the year, Hodson offered up this update on her work on the project:

Maybe the success of 2020’s Birds of Prey, which will star Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary and Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain will help determine the future of Batgirl. We could certainly see Barbara Gordon sharing the screen with this up-and-coming girl gang.

Would Daisy Ridley be up for another high-profile franchise? The actress has had a whirlwind five years as a Star Wars breakout star, also taking on projects including Murder on the Orient Express, Peter Rabbit, Ophelia and Chaos Walking.

The report also said Katherine Langford was also being eyed for the role as well. Langford was previously cast as Tony Stark’s grown-up daughter Morgan for a scene in the metaphysical way station, but the scene was cut from the over-three-hour epic. The actress is most famous for her role as Hannah Baker in 13 Reasons Why, along with starring in 2018’s Love, Simon.
