Seattle police officer yanks fellow cop's knee from man's neck after protesters cry out: Video

A Seattle police officer was captured on video removing a fellow officer’s knee from the neck of a man they were detaining after protesters objected during a wave of unrest Saturday night.

Crosscut journalist Matt McKnight captured the incident overnight Saturday outside a T-Mobile store in Seattle, where looters were running in and out of the store with arms full of stolen goods. In one video, which racked up nearly 8 million views as of Monday, one officer is seen handcuffing a man faced down on the ground while another pins the man to the ground with his knee on the man’s neck.

“Get your f–ing knee off his neck!” a bystander yells in the video.

“Get your knee off his neck!” another shouts.

At that moment, the one officer is seen forcefully yanking the other’s knee from the man’s neck as they continue with the arrest.

The video is gaining notoriety by those advocating it as an example of what Minneapolis police officers should have done when they witnessed now-fired officer Derek Chauvin pinning George Floyd by the neck for more than eight minutes before his death on Memorial Day. Floyd’s death, which resulted in Mr. Chauvin losing his job and facing charges of second-degree murder and manslaughter, has sparked violent protests across the country.
