Seahawks beat Eagles to keep pace with NFC’s top teams

What is the Seahawks’ identity?

Michael-Shawn Dugar, Seahawks beat writer: On offense: Throw the ball to DK Metcalf. On defense: Knock the hell out of the opposing quarterback until he starts making mistakes. Two very sound strategies, honestly. The offense wasn’t great against the Eagles, which is surprising considering how bad the secondary is and how talented Seattle’s quarterback is. At the same time, Seattle’s offense scored 34 points in two games against the Eagles last year. On defense, having Jamal Adams and Carlos Dunlap has turned this pass rush into one of the best in the league.

What are the Seahawks’ chances of grabbing the NFC’s top seed?

Dugar: Well, if Taysom Hill is going to just run through defenses, then the Saints are going to run away with the top seed. Seattle’s only chance requires the Saints dropping a game against an NFC opponent, otherwise they’d win a tiebreaker even if the Seahawks finished the season 13-3. Seattle has the talent to get there, though. They have a top-tier quarterback, one of the best receivers in the league and a defense that is all of the sudden loaded with playmakers.

At what point should Jalen Hurts take over for Wentz at QB?

Bo Wulf, Eagles beat writer: If it were up to me, Hurts would have been the quarterback for the rest of the night after the Wentz-led offense went three-and-out on its first five drives. The Eagles are likely to have a top-10 pick, and they need to know if Hurts is a possible franchise quarterback before evaluating a QB-deep draft. In reality, the final decision on this will likely be made by owner Jeffrey Lurie but, either way, the team needs a better plan than it had tonight, when Hurts played a bizarre two snaps. The Eagles have been without a plan all season.
